CLAXTON: Edward Michael Todd, 92, passed away on June 22, 2026, leaving behind a deep legacy of warmth and steadfast devotion.

Edward was deeply committed to serving his country and community. He spent 20 years in the United States Air Force, including two tours in Vietnam, shouldering the responsibility and sacrifice that such service demands. Following his military career, Edward continued his path of dedication as a Civil Service Supervisor at Fort Stewart for 25 years, starting as a clerk and earning respect from all those with whom he worked.

A true man of the land, Edward spent many years farming and also worked at NeSmith Chevrolet for a decade.

He found great joy in cherishing his family, a foundation upon which all his other achievements were built. Among his proudest accomplishments was earning the revered titles of “Daddy” and later “Papaw”—roles that he fulfilled with unwavering love and pride. Those close to him will always remember his kind and generous nature, as well as his identity as a true family man.

The legacy Edward Michael Todd leaves behind is one of love, service, and steadfast dedication. He will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henley, and Eva Lily Shuman Todd; and several brothers and sisters.
