GROVELAND: Elton "Elto" Lincoln Driggers, 78, passed away peacefully at home on June 26, 2026, following a brief illness with his family by his side. He was born on February 12, 1948, in Groveland, Georgia, where he lived his entire life. Elton joined Sheet Metal Workers Local 85 at a young age and dedicated 35 years to his trade before health issues forced him into early retirement. He was a hardworking and dedicated man who took great pride in his work and the life he built for his family. A man of few words, Elton never felt the need to say much, but those who knew him understood the depth of his character. He was a loyal friend and a steady presence to many throughout his life. Elton was an avid outdoorsman with a lifelong love of fishing. When he wasn't working, chances were he could be found on the water. He also enjoyed hunting, especially squirrel hunting. In his spare time, he enjoyed building traps and crafted countless fish, coon, and hog traps over the years. He was also a devoted fan of the Georgia Bulldogs and the Atlanta Falcons and rarely missed a game on TV.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Reginald Lester Driggers and Laura Driggers Bland; his brothers, Reggie Driggers and Lester Driggers; his sister, Ann Shuman; his nephews, Bunky Driggers and Allen Driggers; and his great-niece, Laura Driggers.
