Frances Ophelia Jansen

CLAXTON: Frances Ophelia Jansen, 79, passed away on February 27, 2024 at her residence surrounded by family and flowers that she loved. She was born in Ellabell, Georgia on January 2, 1945.
Frances was a devoted member of the Claxton Primitive Baptist Church from 1995 to 2018. She loved tending to her flowers in her garden, had a talent for making beautiful floral arrangements, and excelled at fishing. Fran was a loving daughter, wife, mother and Nanny. She cherished every second spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Eunice Lynn; husband of fifty-five years, Jack "W" Jansen; and sister, Betty Lynn.

SURVIVORS: two sons, Jack Jansen and Stan (Theresa) Jansen all of Claxton, Ga.; daughter, Patricia (Greg) Gilmore of Glennville, Ga.; cousin, aka “little sister” Phyllis Walls Tyre; grandchildren, Dianne Cofer, Airel Rushing, Brittney Gilmore and Hannah Grace Jansen; great-grandchildren, Bradley and Brian Gilmore, Adaline Rushing, Brayla and Brielle, and Lydia Rushing; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

VISITATION: Thursday, February 29, 2024, 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.

FUNERAL: Thursday, February 29, 2024, 1:30 p.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel.

BURIAL: Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

PALLBEARERS: Phyllis Tyre, Rickey Tyre, Eddie Walls, Jimmy Davis, Pete Strickland and Tommy Strickland.
