CLAXTON: Jim “Junior” Hendrix, 83, passed away on June 23, 2024.
His greatest joy was to call his mama every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. until her passing, and was known to call his family and friends often just to talk to them. He was known in the cable world as “The Fixer” – he would get called in on the worst jobs and wouldn’t quit until he got it done, even if it meant working seven days a week. Jim could be riding down a road in the middle of no where and show you cable lines, tell you he put them in, and who worked with him at the time. He leaves behind two grandsons that he raised from ages one and two, and taught them his un-matchable work ethic, and how to operate every piece of equipment he ever worked with.
Jim lived all over the United States. He returned to Shellman Bluff, Georgia in 1990, and later fulfilled his dream of moving back to Claxton, Georgia and lived on his family’s property.
Jim was a member of Morgan’s Chapel Methodist Church in Shellman Bluff, Georgia. He was known for giving away Morgan Chapel Boston Butts, green peanuts, Vidalia onions, and Jan’s pecan pies.
Jim never met a stranger and never refused to help anyone who asked.
The family would like to give special thanks to Regency Hospice Staff for the excellent care and support during Jim’s journey.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Effie Powell Hendrix, brothers, Hubert Hendrix, Archie Hendrix, Aubrey Hendrix, Delmas Hendrix and Sammy Hendrix; sister, Cleta H. McCorkel; and granddaughter, Ava Epps.
