SHELLMAN BLUFF/TOWNSEND: Jimmy Candler Rogers, 78, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at his Claxton home, under the care of Bethany Hospice and caregiver, Joyce Greene Ray. He was a CHS graduate of the 1955 class and attended Georgia Southern College. He served in the US Army and was of Methodist faith.
Jimmy was a businessman and entrepreneur, and he owned several businesses in Hinesville and other cities. He resided in Claxton, Hinesville and Shellman Bluff, GA.
He was preceded in death by a son, Adam Rogers, a daughter, Susan Maria Rogers, his parents, Candler and Dora Rogers, two brothers, Harry and Hugh Rogers and a sister, Charlotte Rogers McElroy.
SURVIVORS: his wife of 54 years, Malinda Bland (Lin) Rogers of Shellman Bluff, GA.; brother-in-law, William (Billy) Bland; two sisters-in-law, Lori Rogers and Pam Rogers; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
