John Evan Griffin

SAVANNAH: John Evan Griffin, known to many as "John Boy" 73, passed away peacefully with family by his side on November 5, 2026, after a brief illness.

John was born September 4, 1957, graduated from Savannah High School in 1972, and made a career in the industrial insulation industry. John was a man of faith, and family. He had a love for children, especially his own, Amy and Taylor. John loved bottle digging, scuba-diving, the beach, saltwater, and furry animals.

He was a member of the Savannah Dive Club, BGAA-2010 Champion, St, Patrick's Parade Committee and St. Peter's the Apostle on Wilmington Island, where he was CYD Leader for many years.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Grace Griffin; sister, Connie Groover; nephew, Matt Groover; brother-in-law, Morgan Grooms.

John is survived by his wife, Carla Mills Griffin; daughter, Amy Griffin; son, Taylor Griffin; bonus daughter, Christina Zanner; grandchildren, Dylan Ashlock, and Graci Ashlock;  bonus granddaughter, Journey, Tara, and Ava; bonus great-great-grandchildren, Lakeland and Brixxton; siblings, Tommy (Susan) Griffin, Gwen Grooms, Mark (Ann) Griffin, and Craig (Brenda) Griffin; several nieces, nephews and cousins; beloved pets, Wind, Leia, and Buster.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: Tuesday, November 10, 2026, 1:00 p.m., graveside at Brewton Cemetery.
