Linda Hutcheson Mckenzie

CLAXTON: Linda Hutcheson McKenzie, age 75, of Evans County, Georgia, passed away on October 26, 2026, peacefully at her home after a short illness. She was born on July 23, 1951, in Claxton, Georgia, to the late William Burton Hutcheson and Mary Joyce Hutcheson.

Linda devoted 31 years of service to the Evans County School System, where she was known for her dedication and the care, she showed to those around her. She was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church and cherished her faith and her church family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George McKenzie; her former husband and the father of her two children, Jerry Blocker; and her beloved son, Ray Blocker.

She is survived by her daughter, Kay Blocker of Claxton; her brother, William J. Hutcheson; her sisters, Betty Hutcheson and Mary Brierton; and Cyrus Purdiman all of Claxton. Linda and George thought of Cyrus as their own son, and he became family in every way that mattered. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Linda was known for her love of family, her strength, and her fierce devotion to the people and two dogs she held dear. She will be remembered for her independence and the deep bonds she shared with those she loved.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Affinis Hospice in Vidalia, Georgia for their compassionate care of Linda.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Linda's memory to Evergreen Baptist Church, Cobbtown, Georgia.
