CLAXTON: Lois Ann Boyett, a devoted caregiver, loving family member, and steadfast presence in her community, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, at Camellia Health and Rehab in Claxton, Georgia. Born on January 5, 1946, Lois lived a life marked by nurturing compassion, unwavering dedication, and deep-rooted commitment to her family and loved ones.
Lois grew up on the family farm, surrounded by her twelve brothers and sisters, and worked alongside them with tireless devotion throughout her life. Her connection to the land and her family was unshakable, and she remained on that farm for her entire life, embodying the spirit of care and selflessness that defined her character.
Lois’s career journey included work at a local factory, and she later retired from McCord's Cleaners. Beyond her career, she was well known for her love for family gatherings and community events, particularly gospel sings and local festivities, where she found joy and connection with those around her. Lois’s personality was defined by her loving, nurturing, selfless, and healing nature—qualities that left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Maybell Boyett; her long-time partner, Sammy Strouse; her brother, J.E. Boyett; and her sister, Helen Sumner.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by her brothers Earl (Sarah) Boyett, Carl (Carroll) Boyett, Gary (Wendy) Boyett, Jerry (Cindy) Boyett, Floyd (Robin) Boyett, Wayne (Heather) Boyett, and Joe Boyett; and her sisters Kaye (David) Jernigan, Jean (Danny) Terrell, and Connie Norton. Lois also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will carry forward her memory and kindness.
VISITATION: Wednesday, March 25, 2026, 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
FUNERAL: Wednesday, March 25, 2026, 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.
