Randolph "Randy" Fleming Taylor

SANDY SPRINGS: Randolph Fleming Taylor “Randy” of Sandy Springs, Georgia passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro after a brief illness.

Randy grew up in Summerville, Georgia where he graduated from High School in 1963. He served in the Air National Guard from 1969 - 1975 and completed his education at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1972. After graduation he went to work with General Electric until his retirement in 2003. He returned to working contractually with GE once more and retired a second time in 2007.

Randy was a creative and extremely intelligent man who was known for his dedication to everything he did, both at work and at home. A hobby pilot, Randy loved flying and he especially loved soaring over the majestic Georgia mountains. He was passionate about building circuit boards and gadgets, and he found joy in programming and crafting electronic devices as a hobby. In the early 90s, he ingeniously created a system using a TV remote to start and heat his car during the winter. His expertise extended to teaching electrical wiring and soldering to anyone who wanted to learn. In his free time, he was quite the bookworm and enjoyed watching movies.

Randy was also a nature lover and an accomplished photographer who specialized in aerial photography from his plane as well as experimenting with more challenging photography. One of his prize photographic achievements is the capture of a light bulb just beginning to crack at the moment of impact from a hammer. In his later years, he enjoyed watching “nest cams” of eagles and other birds as they carry about their activities and collecting online images from the Hubble telescope.

Randy never had children of his own, but he adored his niece and nephew. His family fondly remembers long phone calls with him and his desire to be present in the lives of those he loved. He was his mother’s dedicated caregiver until her death and maintained the family photo archives, sharing beloved family history with his niece and nephew to carry them on to the next generation.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. John D. Taylor, Jr., and Mrs. Nell Fox Barrett Taylor; and by his brother, the Rev. John D. “Jack” Taylor III. He is survived by his niece, Barbara Nell Taylor Case (Tim) and his nephew and namesake, Kenneth Randolph Taylor, as well as numerous dear friends and neighbors who are saddened by his death. A private memorial service will be planned for a later date.
