Shirley Strickland

CLAXTON: Shirley Strickland, 72, passed away on September 17, 2023. She was appreciated for “telling it like it is” and for being a loving mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Quincey and Bertie Lou Massey; ex-spouse, Louis Strickland; son, Avery Strickland; and brothers and sisters.

SURVIVORS: son, Wesley (Robin) Strickland; daughters Amanda (Rodney) DeLoach and Renita Strickland; brother, Michael Massey; sister Kay Jerriel and Frances Triplett; eight grandchildren, Crystal DeLoach, Austin DeLoach, Avery Calhoun, Hunter Calhoun Keyleigh Calhoun, Emily Jones, Aaron Jones, and Casey Preston; two great-grandchildren, Silas DeLoach and Gracie DeLoach.

VISITATION: Tuesday, September 19, 2023, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home.

FUNERAL: Wednesday, September 20, 2023, 11:00 a.m. at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel.
