Thomas Ashley Morgan

July 1, 1946 — October 22, 2025

Claxton

CLAXTON: Thomas Ashley Morgan, 79, passed away on October 22, 2025, in his Claxton, GA home that he shared with his beloved wife of 51 years, Peggy Morgan. He was born on July 1, 1946, to his parents Lois Morgan and T.J. Morgan in Evans County where he spent most of his life.

Ashley had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He could never read enough history, non-fiction, or research enough new vocabulary words. He found his love of learning at Claxton High School where he graduated with honors and continued on to attend Georgia Southern University. Post college, he served 4 years in the United States Army where he was severely injured in the Vietnam War.

His greatest loves were their precious dogs, and his family. He will be greatly missed by his devoted wife Peggy Morgan; sister Derita Morgan Brown (Bill), sister Althea Morgan Durden (Barry), niece Hope Brown, nephew Paul Brown (Christy), great niece and nephews Parker Brown, Addison Brown, and Blake Brown. Ashley’s memory will always be in the hearts and minds of his family and friends.

He was proceeded in death by his mother Lois Morgan, his father T.J. Morgan, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ashley was the purist soul, full of kindness, and love. He will forever be missed, and we are all better for knowing and loving him.

Private family services were held October 24, 2025, at Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home in Claxton, GA.
